At the International Conference & Exhibition on Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) this week in Perth, Australia, officials announced that the 2022 conference would be held in St. Petersburg, Russia.

Russian natural gas company Gazprom submitted the application to host the 2022 exhibition in St. Petersburg, which is Russia’s second-largest city. The conference is held every three years, and its location alternates between countries that produce LNG and those that consume it. It is the largest LNG global event, similar to the World Gas Conference in scale.

“Russia plays an increasingly important role in the international LNG market,” Gazprom Management Committee Deputy Chairman Alexander Medvedev said. “It is therefore quite logical that the largest international conference in the industry will take place in St. Petersburg. We are convinced that Gazprom Group's current LNG projects will make a significant contribution to the development of global LNG trading.”

The next LNG International Conference & Exhibition will take place in 2019 in Shanghai, China.
