Cenovus Energy Inc. recently welcomed Richard Marcogilese and Rhonda Zygocki to its board of directors following its annual shareholders meeting, which also saw the retirement of Ralph Cunningham and the election of nine others to the board.

Marcogilese and Zygocki, who were both approved with near-unanimous votes of over 99 percent, have backgrounds in integrated oil and natural gas companies, an ideal background for serving on Cenovus’ board.

Marcogilese has been in the industry for more than four decades, 25 years of which were spent with Exxon Mobil. Marcogilese is currently the principal of a privately owned petroleum refining consultant company, iRefine LLC, as well as an executive adviser at a private chemical and energy advisory company, Pilko & Associates.

Zygocki recently retired from Chevron, where she spent more than 34 years and most recently served as the policy and planning executive vice president. She is currently a senior adviser for the Centre for Strategic and International Studies, based in Washington, D.C., which is a research and policy development organization.

Cunningham had been on the board since the company's founding in 2009.
