Officials from the Combined Joint Task Force Operation Inherent Resolve, which oversees the efforts of U.S. and coalition forces to combat the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL), recently announced continued progress in Iraq and Syria.

Coalition forces conducted 11 more strikes in Iraq and 11 in Syria in their ongoing efforts to eliminate the group by destroying targets that limit their ability to operate, both within those countries and internationally. Countries participating in the strikes included the U.S., Australia, Bahrain, Belgium, Canada, Denmark, France, Jordan, the Netherlands, Saudi Arabia, Turkey, the United Arab Emirates and the United Kingdom.

In Syria, there were eight strikes near Manbij and one each near Abu Kamal, Ayn Isa and Washiyah. Coalition forces eliminated six ISIL oil wellheads, ISIL tactical units, ISIL vehicles and ISIL fighting positions. In Iraq, coalition forces carried out one strike near Qaim, one near Beiji, one near Mosul, one near Sinjar, two near Ramadi, two near Sultan Abdallah and three near Qayyarah. These strikes were responsible for destroying ISIL equipment, including an excavator, a vehicle, weapons caches, rockets, rocket rails, an aircraft hangar and a bomb factory, as well as ISIL tactical units and fighting positions.
