Mario Salazar, formerly with the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee, will join the American Petroleum Institute (API) as an external mobilization manager for the organization’s mobilization team.

Salazar holds a bachelor’s degree from Cornell University and a law degree from the New York Law School. During his time with the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee, Salazar worked as the western regional field director and ran outreach operations throughout that region. Salazar also worked on campaigns for U.S. Sen. Mark Warner (D-VA) in 2014 and for President Obama in both 2008 and 2012. Salazar previously has served as the federal legislative director for the U.S. Public Interest Research Group.

“Salazar’s extensive on-the-ground experience in issue advocacy will be a great asset to our mobilization team,” API Executive Vice President Louis Finke said. “He has a perfect background to help strengthen our advocacy efforts, especially at a time when the U.S. is leading the world in the production of oil and natural gas, and in reducing carbon emissions.”
