U.S. Chamber of Commerce welcomes Gorsuch confirmation

Following Judge Neil Gorsuch's confirmation as associate justice of the U.S. Supreme Court, the U.S. Chamber of Commerce congratulated him on his confirmation.

"He will undoubtedly use his gifted legal mind to help our country sort through our toughest questions for years to come," U.S. Chamber of Commerce President and CEO Thomas Donohue said in a release.

“We congratulate Judge Neil Gorsuch on his confirmation to the U.S. Supreme Court," the release said. "The American free-enterprise system depends on the stable rule of law guaranteed by the Constitution. Although this debate has been contentious, Judge Gorsuch’s qualifications have never been in doubt, and he will undoubtedly use his gifted legal mind to help our country sort through our toughest questions for years to come. We commend the U.S. Senate for overcoming the first partisan filibuster of a Supreme Court nominee to restore the court to a full nine justices.”

Prior to the confirmation vote, the chamber had urged lawmakers to vote for confirmation in a series of letters, emails and phone calls.

"Ahead of votes to advance the nomination of Judge Neil Gorsuch to the Supreme Court, the U.S. chamber sent individual letters to all 100 senators indicating that votes related to the nomination may be considered in the annual How They Voted scorecard." the release said.
