Vets4Energy showcases at 116th VFW Convention

Vets4Energy attended the 116th Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) Convention that took place in Pittsburgh in late July, where they discussed the role that energy plays for issues of national and economic security.

The organization is an advocacy group for energy policy that bolsters national security. It is primarily made up of those who have previously served in one of the branches of the U.S. Armed Forces. According to the group, it was the only organization focused on energy issues that was present at the convention.

Vets4Energy states that energy independence is an important issue facing the nation. According to the group, the country's dependence on imported energy sources is cause for concern, especially because some of those countries are politically unstable. It advocates for the use of natural gas and other forms of fossil fuels that are within the borders of the U.S.

It also states that other forms of energy including nuclear, solar, wind are viable but will not replace oil as the dominant source of energy in the near future.

The convention brought approximately 10,000 VFW members and Ladies Auxiliary service members to the David Lawrence Convention Center, which was a space where members could network and attend workshops and business sessions.
