Fluor Corp. awarded Army contracts for Africa and Latin America

Texas-based Fluor Corp. announced Tuesday it has been awarded a U.S. Army Logistics Civil Augmentation Program (LOGCAP) IV contract to provide regional forward planning support for the Army’s Africa Command (AFRICOM).

LOGCAP IV contractors provide the Army Corps of Engineers with contingency support to augment the Army’s building capacity around the globe.

The new LOGCAP IV contract will bring Fluor’s specialties to bear in both the African Union and in the Army’s Southern Command (SOUTHCOM), which includes Central America, South America and the Caribbean.

The contract is part of a new approach by the Army to align LOGCAP IV contractors with the six Department of Defense Geographic Combatant Commands (GCC) that are responsible for effective command and control of U.S. military forces in specific geographic regions.

Fluor will assign a LOGCAP planner to the AFRICOM headquarters in Stuttgart, Germany, and to the SOUTHCOM headquarters in Miami, Florida. The planners will provide information and assist with the integration of LOGCAP services with the needs of the Army.

“From the work we do through our commercial energy, chemicals and mining business lines to our work serving the U.S. government, Fluor has extensive experience in Africa and the Americas,” Fluor Government Group President Bruce Stanski said. “Regionally aligning LOGCAP IV will provide an improved rapid response capability for contingency operations and increase mission efficiencies. We look forward to planning alongside AFRICOM and SOUTHCOM to meet their logistics and life support services requirements.”
