Nammo Talley was awarded an important contract recently for production and delivery of ammunition for the Shoulder-Launched Multipurpose Assault Weapon system (SMAW).
SMAW is a direct fire, man-portable infantry assault system consisting
of a crew-served MK153 reusable launcher and a family of 83mm rounds.
This award specifies production of the high-explosive dual-purpose
round, the novel explosive round and the common practice round.
"Our team is proud to have been selected by the Army and Marine Corps as the exclusive producer of SMAW ammunition. We'll work relentlessly to exceed their expectations for quality, on-time delivery and safe manufacturing processes," Scott Selle, executive vice president of Nammo Talley, a U.S. division of the Nammo Group, said.
Nammo was awarded an indefinite delivery/indefinite quantity five-year contract to produce ammunition for the system. The contract has a maximum value of $97.2 million. Funding and work location have yet to be determined.
