Coalition airstrikes continue to hinder ISIS efforts in Iraq, Syria

Coalition military forces continue to attack ISIL terrorists in Syria and Iraq, with combined military efforts that have conducted 20 airstrikes over the past week, using fighter, bomber and remotely piloted aircraft as part of Operation Inherent Resolve, a mission to eliminate the ISIL terrorist group and the threat they pose to Iraq, Syria and the wider international community.

The destruction of ISIL targets in Syria and Iraq is intended to limit the group's ability to project terror and conduct operations that could destabilize the entire Middle East and exacerbate the subsequent refugee crisis in Europe.

Coalition nations which have conducted airstrikes in Iraq include Australia, Canada, Denmark, France, Jordan, Netherlands, United Kingdom and the United States. Coalition nations which have conducted airstrikes in Syria include Australia, Bahrain, Canada, Jordan, Saudi Arabia, Turkey, United Arab Emirates and the U.S.

In Syria, four airstrikes hit separate ISIL tactical units and destroyed an ISIL motorcycle, vehicle and artillery piece.

In Iraq, 16 operations have shown even more devastating results. One airstrike destroyed 16 ISIL fighting positions, while another destroyed two ISIL anti-air artillery pieces. Other targets over the week included a bunker, weapons cache, mortar positions, a light machine gun, ISIL-controlled buildings and construction equipment.

All coalition aircraft returned to base safely after completing their missions.
