The Pew Charitable Trusts (PCT) will host top officials from the Department of Defense (DOD) on Monday for a discussion on energy concerns relating to national security.
The discussion will be held 3:30-5 p.m. EDT at Pew's offices at 901 E St. NW in Washington. Featured speakers will include acting Assistant Secretary of Defense for Energy, Installations and Environment John Conger; Assistant Secretary of the Air Force for Installations, Environment and Energy Miranda Ballentine; Assistant Secretary of the Navy for Energy, Installations and Environment Dennis McGinn; Richard Kidd IV, deputy assistant secretary of the Army for energy and sustainability; and Senior Adviser to the Pew Project on National Security, Energy and Climate John Warner.
The panel will be moderated by Sharon Burke, adviser to the Pew project on national security, energy, and climate, and former assistant secretary of defense for operational energy.
This event will focus on challenges and opportunities within the energy sector, how the branches of the military aim to address them and how these challenges affect national security operations and staff.
Burke will offer responses to the presentations, and the discussion will close with a question-and-answer session with live attendees. The PCT said a webcast will be available to those unable to attend in person, at http://www.pewtrusts.org/en/about/events.
