Coalition forces continued airstrikes against ISIS terrorists in Syria and Iraq. In Syria, coalition military forces conducted one airstrike this week using a bomber, while coalition forces in Iraq conducted 24 airstrikes.
The airstrikes are coordinated with and in support of the government of Iraq using bomber, fighter, fighter-attack and remotely piloted aircraft against ISIS targets.
The lone strike in Syria happened near Al Hawl, against an ISIS tactical unit, destroying one vehicle.
In Iraq, air forces were deployed against numerous strategic ISIS targets, including tactical units, fighting positions, staging points, observation posts and a bunker.
The strikes in Iraq also targeted ISIS-controlled hardware, including weapons caches, mortar systems, buildings, rocket rails, vehicles and a construction excavator.
The strikes were conducted as part of Operation Inherent Resolve, the operation to eliminate the ISIS terrorist group and the threat it poses to Iraq, Syria and the wider international community. All aircraft returned safely to base.
Operation Inherent Resolve involves air forces from Australia, Canada, Denmark, Saudi Arabia, France, Jordan, the Netherlands, Bahrain, Turkey, the United Arab Emirates, the United Kingdom and the U.S.. The operation’s mission profile is the destruction of ISIS targets in Syria and Iraq to limit the group's ability to conduct terrorist attacks and other operations in the region.
