Coalition military forces continued their attacks on the Islamic State group in Syria and Iraq last week.
The forces completed three drone attacks in Syria as of Thursday. They also made 21 attacks in Iraq using bomber, fighter, attack, ground-attack, remotely piloted aircraft and rocket artillery with the support of the Iraqi government.
In Syria, the drone attacks were near Aleppo, where one strike hit an Islamic State tactical unit and destroyed one of the group's vehicles; near Washiyah, with one strike on an Islamic State improvised explosive device cluster; and near Mar’a, where another strike hit an Islamic State tactical unit and destroyed one of its motorcycles.
In Iraq, the attacks were near Al Baghdadi, where one strike struck a tactical unit and destroyed an ISIL building and an ISIL vehicle; near Al Huwayjah, with one strike destroying a vehicle-borne improvised explosive device; near Bayji, where two strikes hit a tactical unit and destroyed a vehicle, in addition to damaging a heavy machine gun and an Islamic State tunnel; near Kisik with one strike hitting a tactical unit and destroying a fighting position; and near Mosul, with three strikes hitting two separate tactical units and destroying a heavy machine gun and three fighting positions, while also suppressing a rocket position.
The strikes were part of Operation Inherent Resolve, an attempt to eliminate the Islamic State terrorist group and the threat it poses.
