Reed's legislation, A Plan for America’s Energy Future, encourages the use of such domestic energy sources as wind, solar, oil and natural gas. It also calls for the development of new clean energy technologies.
“Energy security is good for America,” Reed said. “Our plan will take an all-of-the-above approach, using every resource we have right here at home to end our dependence on oil, all while creating good jobs, close to home. As a nation of innovators, I’m confident that we can do just that.”
He added that his proposal is a comprehensive approach to energy security, which focuses on using all types of existing energy resources, keeping utility costs low for families, improving energy efficiency, ensuring our domestic workforce is ready for new energy-related jobs, reducing regulations on businesses, including our manufacturers, encouraging the development of innovative technologies and reforming how the United States government addresses energy policy.
“I care about making sure we lead and carry our nation forward," Reed said. "We can’t depend on single energy source and it’s vital we make every effort to find solution to our dependence on Middle Eastern crude oil. With that in mind, we have a huge opportunity to create jobs here at home and discover the next big thing."
