Cubic Global to supply Marines with ground-combat simulation system

Cubic Global Defense, a San Diego-based defense contractor, has been awarded a $2.1 million contract to deliver ground-combat training simulators to the U.S. Marine Corps.

The company, the defense arm of the Cubic Corporation technology firm, will provide the Marines with the Instrumented-Tactical Engagement Simulation System II (I-TESS II), which can be deployed at various Marine Corps bases and installations for non-live-fire maneuver training. The system's simulators are also highly adaptable for training in urban terrain.

“I-TESS II is a turnkey capability that brings new levels of realism in an immersive environment to replicate the threat of live-combat scenarios,” Bill Toti, president of Cubic Global Defense, said. “Cubic looks forward to the continued partnership with the Marine Corps in offering advanced training technologies and solutions using realistic battle simulations to better prepare our Marines.”

Marines training with the system will have laser transmitters attached to their weapons, which can be read by I-TESS II during the simulation. The lasers can be attached to small arms, and the system also includes rocket-propelled grenade, AT4 anti-tank and anti-armor rocket simulators.

Future deliveries on the contract from Cubic will incorporate enhanced software and instructional videos to make the I-TESS II system adaptable and accessible.
