The Precourt Institute for Energy at Stanford University is teaming up with the Massachusetts Institute of Technology Energy Initiative (MITEI) as part of the U.S. Department of Energy’s (DOE) Clean Energy Education & Empowerment program (C3E).

The DOE aims to boost female ranks in the energy field, as they account for less than 50 percent of the sector's workforce. By teaming up, Precourt and MITEI plan to spread the message across the nation.

The program is partly a mentorship program for potential female candidates across the U.S. C3E has a team of mentors that includes ambassadors and senior leaders who provide solid role models for potential candidates.

Every year, the program holds a symposium that is meant to help women develop the skills necessary to participate in the energy field. The C3E Women in Clean Energy Symposium is also meant to provide women with a professional network. The symposium has been a launch pad for women in this field.

The C3E symposium also includes awards that recognize women who have been working in the field. Both MIT and the DOE have been supporting the symposium and awards from the start.

The annual symposium will be held in May at Stanford University.
