DOD awards contracts for aircraft, boots, personnel locators, tech support

The U.S. Defense Department recently awarded contracts to Alliant Techsystems Inc., Cubic Defense Applications Inc., Belleville Shoe Co. and Northrop Grumman Systems Corp. Aerospace Systems.

The Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) in Arlington, Virginia, contracted with California-based Northrop Grumman Systems Corp. Aerospace Systems for a prototype project called Tactically Exploited Reconnaissance Node program, Phase III. The program is for a medium-altitude long-endurance unmanned air vehicle with shipboard launch and recovery capability. Phase III of the program focuses on the design, construction and testing of a prototype. The contract is for $93,076,636, and the estimated completion date is November 2017.

The Defense Logistics Agency Troop Support in Philadelphia contracted with Belleville Shoe Co. in Illinois for the making of men's and women's temperate-weather sage boots. The contract has a maximum $29,871,013 firm-fixed-price contract with a one-year base and four option periods.

The Defense Logistics Agency Land and Maritime in Aberdeen, Maryland, contracted with Cubic Defense Applications Inc. for parts for personnel locator systems for the U.S. Army. The maximum $76,365,109 firm-fixed-price contract has a five-year base with no option periods.

The Air Force Life Cycle Management Center at Tinker Air Force Base in Oklahoma contracted with Alliant Techsystems Inc. of Fort Worth, Texas, for combat logistical support for the Iraqi Air Force’s Cessna 208B ISR Caravan and the Cessna 208B Armed Caravan fleet. The order entails a maximum $12,690,000 firm-fixed-price, labor hour and cost-plus-fixed-fee undefinitized contract.
