LLOG Exploration Company LLC said on Monday that it has brought its ninth oil well into production in the company’s Mississippi Canyon 254, bringing the well’s production up to its nameplate capacity of 80,000 barrels per day.
LLOG and its joint venture partner for Gulf of Mexico projects, Blackstone Energy Partners, along with its co-owners opened the ninth well several weeks ahead of schedule, with two more set to go on line in 2016. The new wells are supported by the company’s innovative floating offshore system, the Delta House floating production system (FPS).
The Delta House FPS first started producing in April of 2015. The semi-submersible floating system will have a peak operating capacity of 100,000 barrels per day once the final Mississippi Canyon 254 wells are tapped. It is also equipped to produce 240 million cubic feet of natural gas per day.
LLOG and its partners were able to build, install and bring the Delta House FPS into production in just three years. The innovative offshore project has received accolades from oil industry insiders. That acclaim won Delta House the honor of being named one of Offshore Magazine’s Top 5 Projects in the World.
“The startup and ramp-up of the Delta House FPS has gone exceptionally well,” LLOG Exploration President and CEO Scott Gutterman said. “The FPS up-time has averaged in excess of 99 percent since production was initiated, which we believe is best in class for similarly sized facilities.”
