Latest awarded defense contracts involve ammo storage, aircraft, rocketry

The Department of Defense (DoD) released information on recently awarded contracts  related to operations of the U.S. Air Force (USAF), U.S. Navy, U.S. Army and the Defense Logistics Agency (DLA) at the end of December.

The DoD awarded a contract to Avox Systems to supply parts for oxygen masks for use by the USAF in an $11.5 million contract through the DLA.

Three contracts were issued by the Army. One $142.8 million contract facilitates the purchase of 12 high-mobility artillery rocket systems that include protection cabs for crew operators from Lockheed Martin Corp. TRAX International has been awarded approximately $30 million to provide non-personal testing support at the Yuma Proving Ground in Arizona and Fort Greeley in Alaska. DRS Network & Imaging Systems LLC was awarded $9.5 million for the purchase of diagnostic components for use in the production of 150 M1A1 tanks.

Two USAF contract modifications were announced. Both are related to contracts awarded to Lockheed Martin. The first would procure 11 aircraft within five categories. The second involves the procurement of 32 aircraft. Contract modifications are listed at approximately $61.9 million and $1.06 billion respectively.

The Navy awarded seven contracts to companies that included General Electric, Raytheon, Northrop Grumman and Lockheed Martin involving missile defense, ammunition storage, detection equipment, aircraft and aircraft parts.
