Several new armed-forces service contracts awarded

The Defense Department said that several contracts for services throughout the armed forces recently were awarded.

In Waco, Texas, L-3 Platform Integration Division was awarded a $22,756,241 contract for depot-level maintenance sustainment and support for four F/A-18A/B/C/D aircraft, with a completion date set of November 2018. Eighty percent of the work will be conducted in Mirabel, Quebec, Canada, while the other 20 percent will be done in Waco. The division will use the funds to conduct high flight-hour (HFH) performance inspections, both for maintenance and any other additional inspections needed, and for engineering. Also to be considered are funds for the Navy for aircraft procurement and operation and maintenance at a combined $14,532,460, both within fiscal 2016; $981,307 will expire at the end of this fiscal year. The contract was an electronic settlement, ending with two offers, and the contracting entity was the Naval Air Systems Command in Patuxent River, Maryland.

The General Dynamics-National Steel and Shipbuilding Co. in San Diego was awarded a $12,668,280 contract alteration as a change to a previous award for the fiscal year 2016. The services will be conducted for USS Independence dry-docking selected restricted availability, including depot-level maintenance and changes to enhance the quality of the ship's abilities. The funds for these operations and maintenance for the Navy for fiscal 2016 will be committed and will expire at the end of this fiscal year, with a September completion data. All services will take place in San Diego. The Southwest Regional Maintenance Center in San Diego is the contracting entity.

$8,961,539 was awarded to L-3 Communications Cincinnati Electronics Corp. in Mason, Ohio, to begin and finish the complete process of creation and testing of mid-wave infrared (MWIR) and visible spectrum panoramic imagers for Shipboard Panoramic Electro-optic Infrared (EO/IR) Cueing and Surveillance System (SPECSS) from the Combined EO/IR Surveillance and Response System (CESARS) program. All services will take place on-site. The completion date is set for Nov. 2, 2018, and the contracting entity is the Naval Research Laboratory in Washington, DC.

Farris Engineering of Colorado Springs, Colorado, was awarded a $10 million contract for architecture and engineering services at several Air Force bases, including all necessary support for the sustainment of the facility, non-appropriated funds and any construction for the military. Services will be utilized at multiple bases, all within Colorado: U.S. Air Force Academy; Buckley Air Force Base; Cheyenne Mountain Air Force Station, Fort Carson; F.E. Warren Air Force Base; Peterson Air Force Base, Colorado; and Schriever Air Force Base. The contracting entity is the 10th Contracting Squadron, U.S. Air Force Academy, in Colorado.

In Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Rockwell Collins was awarded $9,644,500 to supply global positioning system selective availability anti-spoofing modules and single-chip module with memory for 57 allied nations. The work will be conduced on-site. These services are exclusively for foreign military sales. The completion date is set for March 31, 2021. The contracting entity is the Space and Missile Center at the Los Angeles Air Force Base in Los Angeles.
