New service contracts awarded to armed forces, agencies

The Defense Department recently announced several new contracts awarded among branches and agencies of the armed forces.

U.S. Transportation Command

American Airlines, based in Fort Worth, Texas, was awarded $125,922,873 as part of an option modification as part of a commercial-aviation shipping-service contract. The new modification will bring the contract total to $549,663,016. Work is to be completed by Jan. 31, 2017, at various locations around the world as specified by each order. The U.S. Transportation Command Directorate of Acquisition of Scott Air Force Base in Illinois is the contracting entity.

Navy

In Alexandria, Virginia, Systems Planning and Analysis Inc. was awarded a $13,544,903 contract for support services involving water-sensor systems, including engineering and technical assistance. The contract allows up to $35,062,087 within varied options mostly for the Navy, but also providing some funds to the Japanese government through the Foreign Military Sales program. Work will be conducted in Washington D.C.; Lexington, Massachusetts; Crane, Indiana; Dahlgren, Virginia; and Cooks, Michigan, and is to be  finished by July 2016. The contracting entity is the Naval Sea Systems Command in Washington D.C.

Boeing Co. in St. Louis, Missouri, was awarded a $10,759,161 contract modification for logistical assistance and engineering on aircraft for the U.S. Navy and for the governments of Canada, Finland, Kuwait, Australia, Spain, Switzerland and Malaysia. Work will be conducted in St. Louis, Missouri; El Segundo, California; Bethpage, New York; and San Diego, California. The contracting entity is the Navy Air Systems Command of Patuxent River, Maryland, and work is to be completed by December 2016.

DRS Laurel Technologies of Johnstown, Pennsylvania, and Lockheed Martin Mission Systems and Training of Manassas, Virginia, were awarded contracts totaling $9,890,837 as part of a previous contract. The two companies were further contracted for work within engineering and updating the AN/UYQ-70 (Q70), a high-tech display system. Work will be conducted in Chesapeake, Virginia, and in Port Hueneme, California. The work is to be completed by February 2018, and the contracting entity is the Naval Surface Warfare Center of Port Hueneme.

Air Force

 Leidos Inc. of Arlington, Virginia, was awarded a $13 million contract for research,  development and testing on high-speed weapons. Work is to be completed by Jan. 31, 2021, at Eglin Air Force Base in Florida. The Air Force Research Laboratory at Eglin Air Force Base, Florida, is the contracting entity.

Army

The Advanced Alliant Solutions Team of Fairfax, Virginia, was awarded $11,741,615 to  meet particular requirements for the Army Test and Evaluation Command Headquarters, Operational Test Command, Aberdeen Test Center and Army Evaluation Center. Work will be conducted at the Aberdeen Proving Grounds in Maryland and at Fort Hood, Texas. The contracting entity is the Army Contracting Command in Aberdeen, Maryland, and the work is to be completed by Feb. 28, 2021.

Defense Logistics Agency

 DeRossi and Son Co. Inc. in Vineland, New Jersey, were awarded a $10,382,580 modification on a previous contract's option period to supply men's poly/wool dress coats. Work will be conducted in New Jersey and is to be completed by March 2017, and the Defense Logistics Agency Troop Support of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, is the contracting entity.
