First Solar recently released its first-ever Corporate Sustainability Report, which lays out its plan to cut the cost of solar-powered electricity by utilizing photovoltaic (PV) technologies.

PV has gained global recognition, as First Solar's PV power plants continually have lowered costs and provided innovative solar electricity. Its success is a product of its 'triple bottom line' policy: people, planet and profit.

PV technology has little impact on the environment, and more than 90 percent of the semiconductors and glass used in the technology can be recycled.

"By continuously driving down the cost of solar electricity and providing a solution that addresses energy security and water scarcity, we are delivering on our commitment to build a more sustainable energy future for everyone,” First Solar Vice President of Global Technical Services Alex Heard said.

The sustainability report is available at www.firstsolar.com/en/About-Us/Corporate-Responsibility.aspx.
