The Department of Defense (DoD) recently recognized Dominion with its “Employer Support of the Guard and Reserves (ESGR) Extraordinary Employer Support Award,” which celebrates the company's support of the National Guard and Reserve service by prior recipients of the Secretary of Defense Freedom Award, which Dominion won in 2008.
The company will receive the award at the Virginia ESGR Awards Banquet Saturday in Richmond, Virginia.
Dominion also recently received an honor from the Military Times, which included the company in the energy-companies category for the seventh year in a row in its “75 Best for Vets: Employers 2016” list. The rankings are based on a 90-question survey that analyzes various organizations’ efforts to provide an environment for success for veteran employees.
"Dominion is built on a proud legacy of public service, community involvement and workplace safety," Dominion Resources Chairman, President and CEO Thomas Farrell II said. "Military personnel bring with them the same values and work ethic. Their skills, talent, focus on safety and dedication to their craft are a perfect fit for our company."
Dominion has a strong track record of supporting military personnel; the company was one of the founding partners of the national Troops to Energy Jobs program. Internally, it has set up the Dominion Veterans Network, which serves as a resource group for the veteran community.
