The Combined Joint Task Force Operation Inherent Resolve recently reported its latest strikes in Iraq and Syria against the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL), part of the coalition’s continued efforts to destroy the group’s operations.
The latest strikes included the destruction of an ISIL vehicle near Raqqah, Syria, using a drone, as well as 17 strikes in Iraq using bombers, fighters, ground forces and drones. The Iraq strikes, which were carried out in coordination with the Iraqi government, took place near Baghdadi, Huwayjah, Rutbah, Kisik, Mosul, Qayyarah, Sinjar and Tal Afar. Coalition forces were able to destroy vehicles, rocket rails, staging areas, tunnels, mortar positions, assembly areas, supply caches and weapons-storage facilities, as well as eliminate several tactical units.
These strikes were carried out by forces from the United States, Australia, Belgium, Canada, Denmark, France, Jordan, the Netherlands and the United Kingdom. Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, Turkey and the United Arab Emirates have taken part in previous strikes.
