Peter Langley, formerly deputy chief of staff and legislative director for Michigan state Senate Majority Leader Arlan Meekhof, will be the American Petroleum Institute’s (API) new executive director of API-Michigan.

“Langley will focus on energy priorities in the state, including generating more opportunities for economic benefits and creating jobs in Michigan,” API Senior Director of State Government Relations Rolf Hanson said. “He has been dedicated to developing key policy issues on behalf of Michigan voters over the past half-decade and understands the benefits that energy development and investment in infrastructure can bring to the state for decades to come.”

Langley previously worked in the Senate Majority Policy Office, where he strived to develop legislation with members of the Senate Majority Caucus, state agencies and stakeholders. Langley is from Michigan and graduated from Northern Michigan Univers

“The United States is now an energy superpower, leading the world in oil and natural gas production,” Langley said. “Enormous supplies of clean, affordable natural gas made possible by hydraulic fracturing have allowed natural gas to produce much more of American’s electricity. This has been the largest contributor to the U.S. leading the world in reducing carbon emissions. Sharing this message will be a critical piece of our advocacy efforts.”
