British Petroleum (BP) recently confirmed that it has increased production at the Nidoco North 1X exploration well and the Nidoco North West 4 development well in the Nooros field in Egypt’s Nile Delta.

“We are pleased to announce the production of Nooros after only 10 months since its discovery,” BP North Africa Regional President Hesham Mekawi said. “Nooros is another example of BP’s commitment to fast-track the development of its resources in order to bring critical gas production to Egypt. Our plan is to maximize production through continued debottlenecking of the production facilities.”

The field's four wells are now producing approximately 1,500 barrels of natural gas liquid, 3,000 barrels of condensates and 305 million standard cubic feet of natural gas per day after bottlenecks were removed and the facilities were upgraded. The field was discovered in July 2015, and BP has a 25 percent stake in the concession of Abu Madi West, while Eni holds a 75 percent stake through subsidiary IEOC.

“BP is proud of its successful partnership with Egypt for more than 50 years, and its role in the development of Egypt’s energy sector,” Mekawi said. “This announcement is further demonstration of our commitment to continuing to play a key role in helping to secure Egypt’s energy supply for many years to come.”
