The Arch Coal Foundation recently announced the winners of its 16th Arch Coal Teacher Achievement Awards, an annual recognition of 10 exceptional Wyoming teachers.

"Each year, we are honored to recognize 10 outstanding Wyoming teachers with an Arch Coal Teacher Achievement Award," Arch Coal Chairman and CEO John Eaves said. "Once again, this year's recipients are among the best of the best from around the state. They represent the many Wyoming educators who daily bring a sense of excitement to the classroom and a sense of purpose to the learning experience. We congratulate each of them for their ability to inspire and to encourage their students to reach ever-higher levels of achievement."

The teachers are chosen based on public nominations and a blue-ribbon panel made up of past winners.

"Wyoming was recently recognized as having the best education system among Western states and eighth best nationally. A state cannot have those rankings without great teachers," Gov. Matt Mead said. "I always look forward to partnering with Arch to recognize outstanding teachers and celebrate their success. These teachers make a difference in children's lives. I congratulate and thank each of them."

This year's winners are Joseph Allen, Candy Dooper, Sharon Duffey, James Hoffman, Meredith Huggins, Janet Lee, Chrissy Owen, Kelly Phelan, Magen Seeley-Marotz and Kathryn Watson.
