The Arch Coal Foundation recently announced its 2016 Arch Coal Scholars, 11 high school seniors who each will receive $2,000 annually to further their college goals, for up to four years.
"We are pleased to introduce the 2016 class of Arch Coal Scholars," Arch Coal Chairman and CEO John Eaves said. "The scholarship program is an important piece of the company's efforts to provide quality educational opportunities in areas where we operate, and these outstanding young people are excellent examples of high academic achievement. We congratulate them for their efforts and wish them continued success as they begin the next phase of their education and prepare for their careers."
The scholarship program recognizes students who have displayed a strong academic record, leadership and a commitment to school and community activities. Students must express clear educational and career goals, as well as a work history, and stand out during an outside appraisal. The scholarship program is open to children of Arch Coal employees and those of its subsidiaries.
This year’s scholarship winners are Timothy Adkins, Sydni Burgess, Jewel Jackson, Willie Kimler, Chantal Lawrence, Megan Logan, Adrienne Mackenzie, Jazzminn Morecraft, Zachary Siebert, Alexis Stapleton and Morgan Williams.
