British Petroleum Trinidad and Tobago LLC (bpTT) and Atlantic LNG recently said the Trinidad Onshore Compression (TROC) project has received final approval following agreements between Atlantic LNG shareholders, the National Gas Company of Trinidad and Tobago, and other stakeholders.
The project, funded and owned by bpTT, will be operated by Atlantic LNG and will see the installation of an additional inlet compressor at Atlantic LNG’s Point Fortin plant in southwestern Trinidad. This will allow for increased production from bpTT’s low-pressure wells in the nearby Columbus Basin. The project also will include necessary upgrades to bbTT and third-party facilities.
“The TROC project is another demonstration of bpTT’s long-term commitment to Trinidad and Tobago,” BP Trinidad and Tobago Regional President Norman Christie said. “It is also a clear example of bpTT, the government, and many key players in the oil and gas industry cooperating to improve production and revenue for Trinidad and Tobago. The investment by bpTT has been significant and will result in increased gas accessibility from our offshore fields to help alleviate the current gas-supply shortfalls. We are pleased that the project is progressing and look forward to the start-up of the compressor in early 2017.”
