The American Coalition for Clean Coal Electricity (ACCCE) recently released a video on coal-based electricity, focusing on facts and dispelling myths related to the affordability and reliability offered by coal, as well as its role in the economy.

The video uses data from the Coal Facts website: www.americaspower.org/category/coal-facts.

“The facts are undeniable – a world with coal is a much more pleasant and comfortable way of life than a world without,” ACCCE Senior Vice President of Communications Laura Sheehan said. “Coal’s impact on affordable energy and reliable power cannot be understated. It ensures the lights come on when needed and keeps pocketbooks full for other expenses, all the while keeping America globally competitive.”

The video addresses the Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) Clean Power Plan, which would regulate emissions from new and existing power plants, alleging that it would lead to higher electricity prices, cost jobs in local communities and negatively affect the economy. The video highlights the 700,000 U.S. coal-based jobs at risk and how states relying primarily on coal-generated electricity on average pay lower utility rates than other states.

“The facts are clear as day,” Sheehan said. “Coal-based electricity directly correlates to strong jobs and a stronger U.S. economy. It would be foolish to turn our backs on our past and present for an uncertain future.”
