The Department of
Defense recently honored 15 employers
with the 2016 Secretary of
Defense Employer Support Freedom Awards, which honors employers who demonstrate strong support for National
Guard and Reserve employees and their families.
"These 15
awardees are helping to make DoD and our country stronger," Defense Secretary
Ash Carter during a recenet awards ceremony at the Pentagon. "Today, more than
ever, the commitment they’ve shown to our country, and to those who serve our
country, is indispensable."
The companies were
nominated by Guard and Reserve members, who honored employers who were especially supportive of military employees when they are deployed.
“We are honored to be
able to recognize these employers that really go above and beyond for our service
members,” Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve National Chairman Paul
Mock said. “They serve as shining examples, ensuring the continued readiness of our Guard and Reserve forces."
