The Shah Deniz
consortium recently said that construction on the production and risers
(PR) platform jacket for one of the Shah Deniz Stage 2 natural gas field offshore platforms is completed
and that the jacket is on its way to the platform for offshore installation.
“The first jacket sail
away is an important milestone, and we are pleased to have achieved this as we
move toward completion of other areas of the project,” Shah Deniz 2
Projects Vice President Ewan Drummond said.
The PR platform jacket
construction wrapped up on schedule, and installation, which has been carefully
planned, is expected to take approximately 40 days. Construction was done at
the Heydar Aliyev Baki Deepwater Jackets Factory (BDJF) and involved more than
4,700 workers, approximately 90 percent of which were Azerbaijan citizens.
“The first jacket sail away is an important milestone, and we are pleased
to have achieved this as we move toward completion of other areas of
the project,”
Ewan Drummond, vice president for Shah Deniz 2 projects, said. “This really is a
great achievement, and I am confident that the offshore installation will be
performed with the same level of commitment to safety and quality."
