The American Coalition
for Clean Coal Electricity (ACCCE) recently launched a video and radio spot to
detail its position in the West Virginia v. Environmental Protection Agency
court battle, which the D.C. Circuit Court of Appeals will hear soon.
The ACCCE, which is a party in the lawsuit against
the EPA, created the video (www.youtube.com/watch?v=zvA4cIGzxko), along with an audio version for the radio, to magnify its position against the
Clean Power Plan, which would tighten emissions regulations on new and existing power
plants. The group said the plan threatens states' rights and
would result in higher energy costs for consumers throughout the country.
“The D.C. Circuit Court
of Appeals’ decision is critically important, as it will either put a halt to the EPA's (Environmental Protection Agency) out-of-control regulatory decision
making or give it the green light to continue to run roughshod over states’
constitutional rights,” Laura Sheehan, ACCCE's senior vice president of communications, said.
“We are hopeful that the judges rule that the administration’s Clean Power Plan is
beyond the reach of its authority and that the next administration and Congress
can work together to craft a balanced energy policy.”
The D.C. Circuit Court of Appeals will begin hearing
oral arguments on the case next week.
