For the
seventh consecutive year,
Cenovus Energy Inc. has been included in the Dow Jones Sustainability North America Index, based on the company's long track record of corporate
responsibility.
“This recognition is
testament to our ongoing pursuit of excellence and continuous improvement in
everything we do,” Al Reid, Cenovus' executive vice president for environment, corporate affairs and legal, said. ”We’ve worked hard to earn a reputation as a
company that thinks differently and collaborates with others to find innovative
solutions to the environmental and social issues faced by our industry. We
remain committed to developing new approaches and new technologies to help
ensure that oil can be part of the clean-energy future we all want.”
The Dow Jones Sustainability indices are a tool for both investors looking to weigh sustainability
considerations in their investment decisions and companies wishing to adopt
more sustainable practices, as they evaluate companies based on
economic, environmental and social criteria.
Cenovus was included this year based on high scores in corporate governance,
social and environmental reporting, stakeholder engagement, biodiversity,
climate strategy, and risk and crisis management.
Only two other Canadian oil and
gas producers joined
Cenovus on the Dow Jones
Sustainability North America Index this year.
