Spire Inc. recently completed a previously
announced acquisition of EnergySouth Inc. and Willmut Gas & Oil Company
from Sempra U.S. Gas & Power, a
Sempra Energy Company, for $320 million, with Spire assuming $67 million in existing debt.
Sempra U.S. Gas & Power acquired
EnergySouth in 2008, then acquired Willmut Gas, an EnergySouth subsidiary, in 2012. Sempra will retain ownership of EnergySouth subsidiaries Bay Gas
Storage Co., Mississippi Hub LLC, Liberty Gas Storage and Southern Gas
Transmission, while Spire will acquire EnergySouth subsidiary Mobile Gas.
Willmut Gas serves approximately 19,000 residential, commercial and industrial customers
in Mississippi’s Forrest, Lamar, Covington, Jones, Simpson and Rankin Counties,
and Mobile Gas serves approximately 85,000 customers in Alabama’s
Mobile and Baldwin Counties.
