The American Energy Alliance (AEA) recently
announced the recipients of its inaugural American Energy Champion awards, which
recognize senators and representatives who earned a 90 percent score or higher on
the alliance’s American Energy Scorecard.
“This award goes to the members of Congress
who have demonstrated a commitment to pro-growth policies that will lead to more
affordable energy for American families,” AEA President Thomas Pyle said.
Pyle noted that the Obama administration’s
policies, which have placed stricter regulations on the energy sector in an
effort to combat climate change, have made it likely that energy prices in the
country will rise -- and could become less reliable.
“Given this regulatory onslaught, it is
vital that we grow the ranks of American Energy Champions in Congress who
remain dedicated to free market principles and will fight for less government
intrusion into Americans’ energy choices,” Pyle said. “We’re encouraged by the
results of our inaugural scorecard and are confident that it will continue to
be an important tool for holding Congress accountable and educating the
American people about where their elected officials stand on crucial energy
issues.”
This year’s American Energy Champion awards
recognized 35 members of the Senate and 105 members of the House of
Representatives, all of whom are Republicans.
