General Dynamics gets $126.5 million Coast Guard contract for Rescue 21 system support

General Dynamics Mission Systems recently won a $125.6 million follow-on contract to provide the Coast Guard Command, Control, and Communications Engineering Center with Rescue 21 program management, system support and maintenance and sustainment engineering support.

"Mission Systems is proud to work with the Coast Guard on this critical SAR (search and rescue) program," General Dynamics Mission Systems President Chris Marzilli said. "Since its implementation, the Coast Guard has supported more than 90,000 SAR cases using Rescue 21. This system saves lives."

Rescue 21, built by General Dynamics, helps the Coast Guard locate mariners in distress, allowing service members to save lives and property at sea and on navigable rivers. The system operates on all coasts of the continental United States, along the Great Lakes’ shores, and around Puerto Rico, the U.S. Virgin Islands, Hawaii, Guam and the Marian Islands. The contract will see Missions Systems continue its work in providing customer care, field support and engineering escalation resources, among other services.

"We will continue to leverage the best technology and deliver superior program management to improve Rescue 21 mission readiness," General Dynamics Mission Systems Ground Systems Vice President and General Manager Bill Weiss said. "We're proud to be a part of this important program and deeply value the Coast Guard's confidence in us."
