BP Trinidad and Tobago adds Joe Douglas rig to gas drilling site

BP Trinidad and Tobago LLC (bpTT) recently added the Joe Douglas 240C jack up rig, which is owned and operated by Rowan Companies, to its fleet, and the rig is already drilling at bpTT’s Amherstia facility near Trinidad and Tobago.

“The Joe Douglas rig is a welcome addition to the bpTT rig fleet,” bpTT Regional President Norman Christie said. “It represents an opportunity to access more hydrocarbons from our existing acreage in the Columbus Basin and is a demonstration of our continued commitment to Trinidad and Tobago.”

The bpTT rig fleet already includes Rowan EXL II and Diamond Ocean Victory. The Joe Douglas rig began work alongside the Amhersita facility in October and is the first jack-up rig to do so. Before joining bpTT, the rig worked for another operator in Trinidad. Between that and going to the Amhersita platform, the rig was moored in Chaguaramas for maintenance.

The Joe Douglas rig will drill three new wells and bbTT expects them to generate gas output of approximately 235 million standard cubic feet a day. The rig has a maximum water depth of 350 feet and a maximum drilling depth of 35,000 feet.
