“API has a long history as a certification body and has provided this important service to the industry since 1924,” Lisa Salley, vice president at API Global, said. “We are excited to work side-by-side with experts to offer new avenues for the certification of inspection professionals, especially at this critical time when many are retooling or broadening their skill set.”
The certification will allow surveillance professionals to establish that they are knowledgeable on supplier and vendor equipment and fabrication methods, and that they are aware of API standards related to the same.
Those seeking certification must show proof of appropriate education, demonstrate adequate experience and pas a four-hour, 100-question exam. The certification also establishes a Quality Management System.
“The success of complex operations often depends upon the inspectors who examine manufactured products and confirm that the vendors’ Quality Management Systems are being utilized effectively,” Lakshmy Mahon, API’s director of intellectual property and portfolio management, said. “Our certification programs, including Source Inspector Electrical Equipment, are just one of the many ways we help individuals and companies achieve their quality management and safety goals.”
