Florida recently inducted 11 new members to
its Veteran’s Hall of Fame, the first time names have been added since the
honor’s establishment in 2013.
Award winners include Florida Vets4Energy Co-Chair Dennis Freytes.
"There's a lot of selfless sacrifice
that our veterans make and they're not recognized for it,” Freytes said. “Not
for myself in particular, but for others -- so it is a great honor. This is a
great get-together showing all of the American patriotism: it was just
outstanding.”
The emotional ceremony saw inductees offer
their thanks to wives, families and friends in the packed audience and pay
tribute to fallen comrades who didn’t make it back home.
Those inducted into
the Florida Veteran’s Hall of Fame have their names etched into the wall of the
Florida Capitol, which this year’s inductees agreed was an honor and a privilege.
The inductees included: Freytes, Gov. Reubin Askew, Gov. LeRoy Collins, Sergeant Jordon Corbett, Rear Admiral Kevin Delaney, Dr.
David Goetsch, Gov. Spessard Holland, Dr. William Proctor, Colonel
Washington Sanchez Jr., Chief Master Sergeant Johnny Stewart and Frederick Taylor Jr.
