American Energy Alliance favors two regulatory reform bills

The American Energy Alliance recently posted a news release urging approval of the proposed Regulations from the Executive in Need of Scrutiny (REINS) Act and Midnight Rules Relief Act.

The two measures, which recently were advanced to the Senate, would “send a strong message that the 115th Congress is serious about regulatory reform and turning a new page in American government,” the AEA said on its website. The alliance said it is expecting both bills to be a positive move in the right direction that will allow for fewer regulations.

The AEA said the REINS Act would allow for complete clarity with federal regulatory processes. Additionally, the REINS Act would implement rules and regulations for elected representatives, allowing them to have more “accountability” with their work.

The AEA release said the Midnight Rules Relief Act would ease the process by which Congress can consider Congressional Review Acts (CRA). This would allow for a better process by which CRA bills are considered. Currently in effect, the law with CRA bills allows for up to 10 hours of debate. If the Midnight Rules Relief Act is passed, it will alleviate previous debate time and allow for a streamlined process, the AEA said.
