Chamber of Commerce is looking forward to working closely with President Donald Trump
in growing the economy, offering new reforms and modernizing infrastructure, the chamber said after the inauguration.
“The
business community looks forward to working closely with the newly elected
president, his Cabinet and the new Congress to advance shared priorities
centered on economic growth,” chamber President and CEO Thomas Donohue said in a statement. Additionally, the chamber said they are ready to begin work in order to advance trade, provide new regulations and reform and grow American energy, the statement said.
Together,
the chamber and president are involved with many of the same situations and interests.
“We agree on many of the big ideas the administration has
committed to pursuing, including regulatory relief and reform, a tax overhaul and modernization of America’s infrastructure,” the statement said.
“And, as
a businessman himself, we’re confident that he (Trump) will operate in the best
interests of free enterprise," the statement said. "But when we don’t agree with a position he takes,
we won’t hesitate to say so.”
The chamber is optimistic about the team the president has assembled, Donohue said in the statement, and the chamber respects his leaders in positions and is gearing for national growth in
the economy.
“The chamber stands ready to assist our new president and
Congress in navigating these issues and pursuing an exciting agenda that will
spark dynamic, broad-based economic growth," the statement said.
