President Donald Trump thanked service members when he and first
lady Melania Trump attended the military ball following the inauguration in Washington, D.C.
While at the ball, Trump spoke to the crowd and said, “Thank you very much. I’m with you all the way. You have somebody
that’s going to be right alongside you. We’re going to do it together.
Honestly, not only the support you’ve given me, but the courage you show is
incredible, and it’s going to be appreciated. It’s going to be appreciated more
than ever before,” a posting on the Defense Department website said.
In his
speech, he thanked service members for their time in the armed forces and
congratulated them on their valor, the release said. “I want
to thank you on behalf of Melania, myself, the family and the millions of
people all over the world,” Trump said. “The job
you’ve done is absolutely incredible, absolutely incredible.”
“We are with you a thousand percent. Keep fighting. We’re
going to win. I have your back,” Trump said, according to the release.
The president and first lady enjoyed the evening held at the National Building Museum,
where they both took turns on the dance floor, a long time tradition. Trump
danced with current armed services member, Catherine Cartmell, Navy Petit
Officer 2nd Class. Vice-President Mike Pence and his wife were also
in attendance and joined in on the festivities.
