Safety
was the American Petroleum Institute Global Industry Services' (API GIS) leading
order of business at a workshop held in Mexico this week.
The
workshop was held “to raise awareness of API’s global safety and accreditation
certification programs for oil and natural gas industry service companies and
equipment manufacturers in the region,” an API GIS news release stated.
“Safety is our industry’s core value
that’s embedded in all of our operations from inception to decommissioning," API Vice President of Global Industry Services Lisa Salley said. “API certifications and monograms are recognizable
worldwide, serve as the gold standard throughout the industry and help ensure
that workers throughout the industry return home safely each and every day.”
The
workshop served as an educational reminder to employees on how to be safe at
work. Additionally, it allowed all present to be engaged in possible safety
certifications and programs offered in the safety field.
API
is a leading trade association in the oil and gas industry, where it supports over 9 million local jobs and fights for the
nation’s economy, according to the news release.
