The American Petroleum Institute (API) recently asked the EPA to stand by its initial ruling on the Point of Obligation issue.
API wants the EPA committee to "uphold the agency’s well-reasoned proposed decision to reject moving the point of obligation," according to a press release from the organization.
The EPA is currently reviewing its previous ruling.
“We’ll comment on government decisions that are announced by the government, not speculation from a portion of a divided ethanol industry," API Downstream Director Frank Macchiarola said.
He explained that if the point of obligation was moved it would not provide actual reform.
Additionally, API urges Congress to act quickly "on passing legislation to fix the ethanol mandate," the press release said.
API is proud to be a leader and voice in representing workers and companies in the oil and natural gas industry. The organization "supports 9.8 million U.S. jobs and 8 percent of the U.S. economy."
With more than 600 active members in API, "They provide most of the nation’s energy and are backed by a growing grassroots movement of more than 30 million Americans."
