American Petroleum Institute (API) recently released its methane information collection records in order to ease burdens and worries in the U.S. oil and gas industry.
By releasing these records, it acted as "a positive step in reducing significant uncertainties and burdens on the oil and gas industry," an API press release said.
“We now call on the Senate to repeal the Bureau of Land Management’s duplicative rule on methane, as the BLM does not have legal authority to regulate air quality. EPA is the proper agency to determine the need to further regulate emissions," API Senior Director for Regulatory and Scientific Affairs Howard Feldman said in the release.
Feldman made clear API is hopeful the United States, a leading producer of oil and gas, will pass "common sense regulations that create jobs and benefit American consumers.”
API is a national trade association representing more than 9.8 million U.S. jobs and over 600 members.
