Americans for Prosperity (AFP) has said that lawmakers should
work on developing a healthcare bill that would tackle the parts of Obamacare
that cost the most.
The organization made its statement following the failed vote in the
House over a replacement plan for Obamacare.
“The flawed infrastructure of Obamacare is a poor
blueprint for reform," AFP Chief Government Affairs Officer Brent Gardner said in the statement. "The GOP healthcare plan, with its model of mandates,
regulations and subsidies, was a stew of bad policy and bad politics that
would have caused harm to patients and politicians alike.
“We look forward to working with Congress to
advance a true repeal of Obamacare, and approach reform with a fresh
perspective that lowers costs and increases access to healthcare for all
Americans."
AFP criticized Obamacare by saying it made insurance less affordable
for most Americans, and the group said it would continue to
put pressure on lawmakers to repeal the law.
AFP listed four core concerns it expected to be addressed by another effort to repeal Obamacare. These
included tax credits, the "Cadillac tax," Medicaid relief and insurance regulation.
