Americans for Prosperity (AFP) recently applauded the confirmation of Neil Gorsuch as associate justice of the Supreme Court.
AFP said in a release it has supported a quick road to Senate confirmation and swearing in, and as part of this support, AFP’s grassroots efforts included calling Americans asking them to contact their senators in support of the Gorsuch confirmation, the release said.
“It’s been clear throughout this process that Judge Gorsuch is eminently qualified for the Supreme Court bench,” AFP CEO Luke Hilgemann said in the release. “In 2016, our activists spoke with tens of millions of Americans across the country about the issues they care about. So many said they care about the future of the Supreme Court and getting a jurist who adhered to the Constitution rather than political whims.”
"The American people deserve a principled and experienced justice like Judge Gorsuch, and we thank those who advanced his nomination," Hilgemann said in the release. "We also plan to utilize our grassroots force around the country to let Americans know who played politics during this process, and hold them accountable for their votes.”
The AFP sent a letter to senators saying they will use the vote as part of the process of creating an annual scorecard on senators, the release said.
