Pinpointing tangible industrywide improvements for the nation’s oil and natural gas sector, the American Petroleum Institute (API) recently issued its latest report detailing the field’s safety and environmental benefits for local jurisdictions’ residents and economies.
“Energy development can enhance communities in countless ways not always recognized,” API Executive Vice President and Chief Strategy Officer Marty Durbin said in a release. “America’s natural gas and oil industry is committed to producing more energy while reducing our footprint and improving the efficiency and safety of our operations and helping local communities where we operate.”
Calling the natural gas and oil business the lifeblood of our economy, Durbin said the energy supply yielded by natural resources is abundant, consistent, affordable and reliable.
“(We) understand that the nation’s prosperity fundamentally relies on our industry’s ability to produce more of these resources in a way that promotes safety, benefits our communities and values environmental stewardship,” Durbin said in the release.
