Public land parcels in Nevada up for geothermal development under review

The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) said environmental assessments for up to five parcels of public land with possibilities for geothermal development in northeastern Nevada will be up for public review through July 15.

Approximately 12,600 acres overseen by the BLM's Elko District Office are currently under consideration for the 2017 Competitive Geothermal Lease Sale slated for October 26, BLM said in a release. The site assessments are available for review and more details concerning the upcoming sale will be publicized in late July.

The parcels up for consideration represent approximately 0.1 percent of all Elko District public lands by area. The EA is posted for public review on the NEPA Register project website at: http://bit.ly/2txLxCH. Interested parties may contact project leader Tom Schmidt at the BLM Elko District at 775-753-0200 or at TuscFO_NEPA@blm.gov.
