The American Petroleum Institute (API), a national trade association representing the oil and natural gas industry, supports President Donald Trump's executive order on streamlining energy infrastructure.
API said Trump's order will quicken projects, create jobs and help the government better deliver Americans' energy needs.
“Ensuring we have a robust energy infrastructure system that protects the environment and keeps pace with growing production and demand is essential to helping American families and businesses have reliable access to affordable energy,” API President and CEO Jack Gerard said in a press release.
In March, the API submitted comments to the Department of Commerce stating that business industries need a cost-effective system that will assist them in making capital investments that bring energy and other projects to the country's economy.
“Whether it is powering our nation’s electricity grid, delivering natural gas to heat homes and run appliances, supplying raw materials and energy to industry and manufacturing, or delivering the transportation fuels we use every day, this investment will ensure that these critical products are there when and where they are needed most,” Gerard said of the executive order.
